As we all know, we not only need a good packaging machine, but also require good packaging films in the packaging industry. Our company provides high quality pallet wrapping machine and want share you with 3 things to check when your stretch film breaks. Film breaks are more than just an irritation. Unless their causes are found and fixed, they lead to a nasty chain of events called the Circle of Doom. pallet wrapping machine The Circle of Doom's a bad place to be. So, here are the 1st thing you should check to avoid it when your film starts breaking: 1. The Stretch Film a. Is it threaded properly? b. Is the film the one you're supposed to be using? c. Are there flaws (gels, nicks, tears, etc.)? 2. The Load and Pallet a. Are there sharp corners or protrusions? 3. The Stretch Wrapper a. Is the wrap force set correctly? b. Are there nicks, cuts, or resin build-up on the film contact surfaces? c. Film Clamp (on fully automatic stretch wrappers): i. Scissor Clamps: nicks, cuts, resin build-up on the film contact surfaces? ii. Vacuum clamps: is the air pressure correct? Air filter clean? If these don't expose the problem, get some help! First, listen to your stretch wrapping machine when it runs. If you hear any squeaking or grinding, find out why and fix it. Inspect any belts-usually those that drive film delivery system up and down and under the turntable-to make sure they`re not fraying. If you need a replacement belt, call up the manufacturer`s parts department and get a new one shipped (good manufacturers will ship parts by the next day). Performing periodic maintenance check on your stretch wrapper is important. But so is checking to make sure your stretch wrapper is set up to wrap effectively. Knowing if your load is safe to ship isn`t complicated. It`s all focused around containment force, which is the cumulative squeezing force the film puts on the load. Containment force is the best defense against shipping damage. It`s important to know how much containment force your load needs and to make sure to ship with at least that amount. If you are unsure of how much containment force is necessary for your loads, you can download our recommendation chart here. By checking your machine every year you can reduce the likelihood of any disastrous maintenance issues that might arise unexpectedly. And by checking your wrap quality you can increase the chances of your products making it do their destination without damage.

Here are three things you can do regardless of the model or age of your stretch wrapping machine to improve your probability of success. 1. Use the right amount of containment force Make sure you're applying the right amount of containment force everywhere on the load. It's just as important to make sure you're getting it, however. Proper containment force can mean the difference between a load that's safe-to-ship and a disaster. 2. Keep maintenance up-to-date When your stretch wrapper isn't working right you can end up with film breaks. These film breaks don't just slow down your operation; they can put your loads at risk. 3. Keep loads inside the pallet Don't violate the invisible walls of the pallet. Your products should never overhang the pallet and should only be slightly inboard. Products that overhang the pallet are at a high risk for being damaged. Keep the load inside the pallet and keep it plumb.
